The Markham Fair is celebrating 168 years in 2012, but another celebration that should not to be overlooked is the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and Markham Fair has many reasons to celebrate, maybe not sixty of them, we are after all only a four-day Fall Fair! Queen Elizabeth II has spent six decades providing service to Canadians and Markham Fair wishes to celebrate that!
Beginning on September 27th and going all four days of the Fair will be Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee Tea Room that will feature scones, finger sandwiches, and fruit! Be sure to dress according to Fair weather, but do bring your dress hat or fascinator if you desire. The Diamond Jubilee Tea Room is great for all ages and a fantastic place to meet up with old and new friends. Be sure to check out the Make your Own Fascinator/Crown area in the Tea Room, we are sure Beatrice would wear any of the newly created headpieces! Other events celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be a special Armed Forces Display including a Diamond Jubilee Musical presentation.
Take a look around the Fairgrounds and notice the Canadian flags flying proud as an ode to the Queen of Canada. If you have children in your family, be sure to get your hands on a Colour Me in Free Colouring sheet that has some ‘Jubilant’ flare. Markham Fair always has its community at the top of its interests and that is why it feels like such a natural fit celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee!
