Markham Fair Prize Books - It’s that simple to enter!

Look for a Section from the Prize Books. Pick the Section and best class that matches your entry. Fill out the appropriate Entry Form. Be sure to read the General Rules and Regulations. Bring the form into the Markham Fair Office on or before September 15, 2011, 8PM, with the appropriate entry fees.

Before entering this Section, please refer to the General Rules as well as the Crop And Vegetable rules. Please note: Exhibits are to be placed in the General Exhibits Building on Tuesday, September 27th between 12 noon – 9:00 p.m.

Additional Rules:

  1. Grain is to be brought in 10 kg.(22lb) samples.
  2. All sheaves are to be 13cm. to 18cm. (5 in. to 7 in.) in diameter.
  3. Grain to be from 2011 crop. Beans, shelled corn and small seeds may be from 2010 crop. All exhibits must be under 14% moisture.
  4. Grain must not be treated.
  5. Small seeds to be 7 kg. (15lbs.) samples.
  6. Hay samples to be a 18 cm. (7 in.) slice from a bale. Containers will be supplied by Fair Committee.

1st – $15.00; 2nd – $12.00; 3rd – $10.00; 4th – $8.00;
5th – $6.00

Stewart Watson Memorial Award:

$35 – Grand Champion: 1st cut hay.

Championship Ribbon Classes 1-9

Prize Money – Classes #10-12:

1st – $15.00; 2nd – $12.00; 3rd – $10.00; 4th – $8.00;

  1. 1st cut hay 75% or more alfalfa
  2. 1st cut hay 75% or more any other legume.
  3. 1st cut hay 75% or more any grass.
  4. 1st cut hay 50% legume 50% any grass.
  5. 2nd cut hay 75% or more legume.
  6. 2nd cut hay 75% or more any grass.

Championship Ribbon Classes 13-18

  1. Shelled corn.
  2. Grain corn 10 ears.
  3. Ensilage corn 10 stalks.

Corn Special: St. Lawrence Grains

$75.00 voucher to exhibitor scoring highest number of points in Classes #19-21. (Exhibitor must exhibit in each of Classes #19, #20 and #21 to win).

Points awarded as follows:

1st place: 5 points; 2nd place: 4 points;

3rd place: 3 points; 4th place: 2 points; 5th place: 1 point

  1. Haylage 1 bushel
  2. Corn silage 1 bushel, cured at least 1 week
  3. Baleage 1 bushel. 1st cut
  4. Baleage 1 bushel. 2nd cut

4-H CLASSES (#26-28):
Must be exhibitor of 4-H Crops Club

    my special friend has been waiting to submit his giant sunflower plants-what category?

    He is very focused on the whole experience but sure could use some guidance from those in the know? his sunflowers are huge!!
