Additional Rules for all Art Divisions: 
Any artwork that does not comply with the rules will not be accepted.
- Please secure entry tag to back of artwork.
- Exhibits must be brought to the Homecraft Building Tuesday, Sept. 27th between 12:00 and 9:00 p.m. and may be reclaimed on Sunday, October 2nd between 6:30 and 8:00 p.m.
- No wet artwork will be accepted. Flat Artwork Only.
Adult Art Division
Additional Rules to this Division:
- No former prize winning works of art will be accepted.
- To be accepted, all pictures must be properly framed.
- Artwork must be wired from side to side for hanging; sawtooth hangers will not be accepted.
- Pictures including frames must be no longer than 36″
(91 cm) on the longest side. - Glass or plexiglass size shall not exceed 24″ (61 cm) on the longest side, not including frame, in any category.
- All artwork is to be original – no copies or paint by numbers. A copy is defined as a drawing or painting taken (or partially taken) from another artist’s work.
- Any work entered in the wrong Class may be hung but not judged.
- A charge of 25¢ per entry will apply plus a $5.00 exhibitor fee.
Prize Money Classes #1-13:
1st – $7.00; 2nd -$6.00; 3rd – $5.00; 4th – $4.00
- Land/Seascape Small, any medium. Overall Artwork size including frame to be 18″ (45 cm) or less on the longest side.
- Land/Seascape Large, any medium. Overall Artwork size including frame to be over 18″ (45 cm) on the longest side
- Mixed Media.
- Any subject, any medium.
- Floral, any medium.
- People, any medium.
- Building, with one or more, any medium.
- Animals, including fish, fowl & reptiles, any medium.
- Transparent watercolour, any subject.
- Oil or acrylic, any subject.
- Charcoal, pencil, coloured pencil or conte, any subject.
- Theme: Canadian Harvest, any medium. New!
- Abstract, any medium.
Awards:
Markham Group of Artists – $25.00 – Best of Show.

Intermediate Art Division

Dec. 31st, 2011. - To be accepted all exhibits must be sturdily matted or framed.
- Artwork must be wired from side to side for hanging; sawtooth hangers will not be accepted.

longest side, including frame. - Paintings larger than 24″ (61 cm) on the longest side including frame may be entered in the Adult Division.
- Please Note: There is only one class in which a copy may be entered. A copy is defined as a drawing or painting taken (or partially taken) from another artist’s work.
- An entry fee of 25¢ will be charged for each entry plus a $5.00 exhibitor fee.
- Any work that is entered in the wrong category may be displayed but not judged.

- All entrants must be 13 years of age or under as of
December 31st, 2011. - Pictures must be:
- Mounted on Bristol Board or sturdy matting.
- No longer than 18″ (46 cm) in total on the longest side.
- No thicker than 1″
(due to display case depth restrictions). - No Frames
- Please Note: There is only one class in which a copy may be entered. A copy is defined as a drawing or painting taken (or partially taken) from another artist’s work.
- An entry fee of 25¢ will be charged for each entry plus a $5.00 exhibitor fee.

My daughter has registered for the art show. For the intermediate group, #14 transparent watercolour – can you please clarify what it means by transparent?

Tamara, Thanks for your comment/question. Joanne your co-chair of Art sends this reply, “It’s really quite technical – referring to the transparency vs opaqueness of the paints used. I ‘googled’ it to get a definition, but there’s not really a short and sweet answer. The Cezanne is transparent.

Simplistically, no white or opaque paint is used; you can see the paper through the paint, and the paper is allowed to fill the white spaces.
I suggest that, for the Fair, that the entrant ensure they are submitting a watercolour.
