Thanks for the inquiry Beverly. Usually we get the new prize book information online by the middle of May. I would recommend you start shooting now, most likely less than 10 classes in Section 9 will change.

Hi Peggy! Most of the sections of the judging guides are out dated. When the photography guidlines were released, we thought they were already outdated, that was 9 years ago. Our photo judges use a wider range of criteria to select the winning images. Emotional and technical abilities are considered, keeping in mind that this is an amateur competition. As far as the quilts go, you are the expert. You could proceed as we do, use the OAAS guides as a starting point and then add your own judging points. Maybe if you are down at the convention in February you can intruduce yourself at the OAAS registration booth and volunteer to help upgrage the guide?

I think the Agricultural Judging Guide line for quilts is out dated. Really need to up day if we want to increase quilt entery. Peggy Kwan

I’ve been attending (off and on) for the last 30 years?? Can it be so long?! And though the Fair has changed, it has also kept much of its tradition. I am please to see the Fair try new partnerships as this can lead to a viable future for all parties involved. I look forward to seeing you in September for the 2012 event!

Thanks for your comment/question. It’s possible. Might be something to look into. The photo list is sorted in chronological order from top to bottom where the newest date is added to the list at the bottom. I’ve seen your suggestion on blog posts. It’s how they do their archives sometimes.
