Markham Fair – “Deeply Rooted Heritage That Branches Out Into The Future” Welcome, please come and celebrate with us as the Markham Fair reaches its 166th year. One hundred and sixty-six years ago, the farmers gathered to discuss agricultural improvements and to showcase the fruits of their labour. Over the years, Markham Fair has progressed and grown with help from all the surrounding communities and many volunteers. It is the pride of Markham Fair to be able to provide agricultural education and awareness within our community. We have a long and rich history to be extremely proud of. The Markham Fair can draw more than 70,000 visitors to Markham annually to enjoy thousands of unique entries from growers, exhibitors and competitors, large and small animals, entertaining and educational shows, activities, shopping and dining. There is so much to see and do including Homecraft displays and demonstrations, livestock shows and displays, all the exhibitors’ displays and our Friday night entertainment show. Also enjoyed is the popular children’s’ characters of Dora or Diego over the last few years. For the more thrill–seeking, we have a Thursday night Demolition Derby, Friday night Tractor Pull, Horse Pulls, Video Dance, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon Monster Truck shows and Horse Shows. Midway rides are available throughout the four days and fireworks are presented every night. This year we will be adding new shows and displays. We would love to have you come out and experience all we have to offer. There is truly something for your whole family. Markham Fair would not be possible without all the hardworking and dedicated volunteers, exhibitors, participants, service clubs, sponsors and donations from our local businesses. I would like to thank Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Mayor Wayne Emmerson and members of the Markham and Stouffville councils for all their support. Special thanks to our dedicated employees Michelle, Mick and Lynda. We could not do it without all of you. Each year we try to focus on our history, agriculture and providing a high level of entertainment. It is our goal to providing a safe, fun place to reunite with family and friends and above all create an avenue for quality family time. It is my honour to serve as the 2010 president. On behalf of the board and myself, I would like to invite you to the Markham Fair on September 30, October 1, 2 and 3, 2010. Don’t spend just one day with us- spend the whole weekend. Regards, Kevin Hollands President, Markham Fair 2010
