Butter Tart – Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Special Class
The Royal is pleased to introduce this special class which will bring a sense of creativity and fun to a traditional Canadian treat. Markham Fair is participating in this special class. Bakers will be able to enter their butter tarts at the Markham Fair in Section 5, Baking and Preserves, Class 92. The butter tarts can include any special ingredient. It’s your choice! The winning entry will represent Markham Fair at the RAWF in November.
Class 92 – Butter Tarts with special ingredient
– All entries must be submitted with a list of ingredients. Ingredients will not be disclosed to the judges but must be on hand in case of allergy concerns.
1st – $12, 2nd – $10, 3rd – $8. Ribbons to 5th awarded.
The top three winners of this competition may be contacted by The Royal to participate in ‘between round interviews’ during the Road to the Royal Chef Challenge at Markham Fair and to attend The RAWF for finals of the 2014 Butter Tart Competition on Champions Day.

Exhibits must be brought to the Homecraft Building Tuesday September 30th, 12 noon to 9 p.m. Reclaim your exhibit Sunday October 5th 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. (or exhibits will be discarded, ribbons and personal containers will go to the office.)
