City of Markham celebrated contributions to the community with an awards presentation in council chambers last night. Mayor Frank Scarpitti announced the importance of the volunteer efforts from the parade organizing committee as well as the local businesses and not-for-profit groups. Each year the parade grows a little more in number of floats. The annual event has a long tradition of exciting children of all ages. Many families have enjoyed the parade as far back as when Markham was a little town. The town has grown into a city and the parade has changed with the times. Volunteers from local groups donate thousands of hours to produce the floats which delight parade onlookers.

Markham Fair was honoured to receive first place in the “Best Theme” float for 2015’s Santa Claus Parade.

Thanks to Peter Still and the Markham Santa Claus Parade Committee for the dedication and hard work to produce this event. Click here to see the list of all parade participants for 2015.
