Leah Daniels opens for Jame Barker Band on Saturday September 30, 2017. Tickets on sale now.
It’s been a whirlwind 12 months for Leah Daniels. It started with the release of her debut album, What It Feels Like and her top 20 single, “Go Back.” Along the way, she’s been racking up new fans and awards: A Canadian Radio Music Award for FACTOR Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year from the Country Music Association of Ontario and now she’s up for Interactive Artist of the Year at the 2016 Canadian Country Music Awards.
Just getting to this point has been a dream come true for the Uxbridge, Ontario native who was introduced to country music as a young child by her grandfather, who also taught her how to yodel.
Blending Daniels’ love of both modern and traditional country with a healthy dose of pop smarts, her new album What It Feels Like 10 tracks range from sassy opener “Boots ‘N Jeans,” to the soaring ballad “Old Piano,” and the edgy “Your Kiss Is Killing Me.” Working with producers Dave ”Dwave” Thomson (Lady Antebellum, Autumn Hill), Gavin Brown (Three Days Grace, Barenaked Ladies), and Sam Ellis in the studio, What It Feels Like is the perfect introduction to her powerful voice and undeniable charm, which have quickly built a loyal fan base from coast to coast.
Leah began her recording career working on a project produced by her longtime friend and songwriting partner, Sam Ellis (who has also worked closely with Hunter Hayes). “Sam and I were both eager. We recorded eight tunes towards an album. It was a great start!” Their first release, a remake of the Elvis classic “Suspicious Minds,” was a viral video sensation and motivated CMT to get involved for the video of Leah’s first radio single, “One Night.” After releasing her first two singles, Daniels made a big splash at the 2014 CCMA Awards in Edmonton, where she earned a Spotlight Showcase based on fan voting. Since then Daniels has performed at some of the country’s biggest festivals: CMT Music Fest, Boots and Hearts & Big Valley Jamboree to name a few. Anyone who meets Leah Daniels will see a girl with equal parts, drive and heart. She truly has the eye of the tiger, is down to earth and proud of her roots … a girl with purpose.
