President’s Message

On behalf of the Markham and East York Agricultural Society, I am honored to welcome you to our 181st Markham Fair. Markham Fair is a proud tradition that continues to teach our ever-changing audience about the importance agriculture plays in our lives. It’s hard to believe that what began as a one-day fair 181 years ago, bringing the local agricultural community together to showcase their yearly achievements, has turned into Canada’s largest 4-day Fair, featuring thousands of entries, educational displays, and tons of family fun. From enjoying live entertainment to browsing local vendors or watching the fireworks at the Demo Derby, there truly is something for everyone.

Markham Fair’s success would not be possible without the support of the almost nine hundred volunteers that work day and night, not only during the Fair but year-round. These individuals work tirelessly to create new attractions and events to keep us vibrant within the community and entertain our guests. It is their passion and dedication that has allowed Markham Fair to succeed for 181 years. Of course, without exhibitors and attendees, the Fair wouldn’t be what it is today. Our dedicated exhibitors take the time each year to bring their animals, crafts, produce, and family heirlooms to the Fair, bringing life into our buildings. The thousands of entries are what keeps us tied to our heritage and history. I cannot thank all of you enough. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I welcome you to the 2025 Markham Fair and invite you to come out and enjoy everything the Fair has to offer—creating lasting memories and a family tradition.
