President’s Message

On behalf of the Markham and East York Agricultural Society, I have the honour of welcoming you to the 2026 Markham Fair.

The Markham Fair has built a rich agricultural history since the society began in 1844. We continue to honour our heritage and strive to grow new traditions in an ever changing world.

The theme for the Fair this year is Harvest Time. Harvest has always been a time for the community to come together, reflect on the year, and reap the benefits of all the hard work and dedication.

This perfectly describes the Markham Fair. Each year over 800 volunteers come together to put on this amazing event. It takes a community of all different ages, backgrounds, and skill sets to grow the Fair into what it has become today. Part of our vision as a society is to celebrate and promote agriculture and rural living, and that is why we dedicate so much time and effort each year to bring the Fair to the community.

The Fair is forever grateful to all of our exhibitors and their displays that bring life to our buildings and barns. Whether you are bringing horses for the horse pull, the biggest pumpkin you’ve ever grown, or banana bread from your secret family recipe, each entry contributes to the Fair experience. You should all be proud of what you have to display at the Markham Fair as we gather to celebrate agriculture, rural living and harvest time.
